Vesuvius and Pompeii Shore Excursion from Naples

Upon arrival at Pompeii, a licensed private guide from our team will join you. For about two hours the guide will lead you around the archeological area, bringing to life the history of this ancient Roman port city that met its brutal fate with Mount Vesuvius explosion in 79AD. For centuries, the town remained astonishingly preserved under layers of ash until excavations started in the 18th century.

Prepare to walk upon the same roads as the Romans once did, touch the smooth counter-tops of ancient shop remains, visit the small homes of average citizens and stand in awe at the still-colored frescoes and tiled mosaics that decorate the wealthy romans’ villas. From the forum, to hidden brothels and great ancient baths, your guide will piece together the daily life of Pompeii.

After your tour of the archeological park, your private driver will take you up to the epicenter of the volcanic blast – Mount Vesuvius. Looming over 4,000 feet over the modern city today, this is one of the world’s largest active volcanoes. Here you will have about an hour to explore this surreal landscape that offers amazing views on the sea and surroundings.

WINERY VISIT WITH LUNCH AND WINE TASTING - After the visit on the volcano, if you wish, we may stop at one of the great wineries on the slopes of the Vesuvius. Here you will tour the estate, learn about the wine production and have lunch with tasting of the locally produced wines. Lunch includes: appetizers, a pasta main course, desser, all paired with local wines (a vegetarian menu is available upon request). This winery/lunch/tasting experience is optional at additional cost, if you prefer to skip it you may have lunch at your own expense at a restaurant of your choice. 

After your visit to Mount Vesuvius, the tour will conclude as your private driver takes you back to the port of Naples on time to board your ship.
