Description:
This private shore excursion from the port of La Spezia is designed for passengers arriving on a cruise ship who want to visit the beautiful cities of Florence and Pisa with a private tour.
Our driver will meet you at the port of La Spezia with a luxury air conditioned sedan or minivan (Mercedes or equivalent). Together you will travel to the city of Florence where our private guide will be waiting for you.
Along the way, if you wish, it is possible to stop in Pisa for about half an hour to see the Leaning Tower and the nearby attractions. Since all monuments are located in a small area you can easily visit this site on your own. You will have time to admire the spectacular Square of Miracles, the Leaning Tower, the Cathedral and the Baptistery before traveling to Florence with our driver. You may add this stop in Pisa from the options menu in the reservation box (located in the upper right side of this page).
Once in Florence our driver will accompany you to the meeting point with our local, fully licensed guide. During your 3 hour private walking tour you will explore the historical city centre and its most interesting sights: Piazza del Duomo with the Cathedral, the Baptistery of San Giovanni, one of the oldest buildings in Florence, and Giotto’s bell tower, an outstanding example of Florentine Gothic architecture.
You will then walk along the lively Via Calzaiuoli with its many shops, cafès and the Church of Orsanmichele, once the granary of the city, to end in Piazza Signoria, one of the most important squares of Florence. The square is dominated by Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace) the town hall started in 1299 by Arnolfo di Cambio, and the Loggia dei Lanzi, with its many statues. The walk will continue through the courtyard of the Uffizi to Ponte Vecchio, the Old Bridge where you can admire lovely views of the city surrounded by the bridge’s famous gold and jewelry shops.
If you wish we can add to your tour of Florence a visit to the Accademia Gallery to see the David by Michelangelo, probably the most famous sculpture in the world. You may add this option with skip the line tickets in the reservation box (located in the upper right side of this page).
At the end of your private walking tour you will have time to enjoy a typical lunch in a local restaurant. Our guide will be happy to give you some suggestions based on your preferences.
It will then be time to meet our driver and start the journey back to the port of La Spezia where the tour will end on time for you to board your ship.
The tour in Florence will be led by one of the KissFromItaly guides. All our guides have graduate degrees in arts or history and are officially licensed by the Municipality of Florence (or any other city where they operate) and, most important, they are friendly and passionate people who will be happy to share their knowledge of this amazing city with you.
Since this is a private tour, it is possible to customize the start and finish time based on the schedule of your cruise.
Please note that on Mondays the Accademia Gallery is closed so it will not then be possible to see Michelangelo’s David.
