Description:

This private daytrip to Venice is the perfect way to see the best of Venice in one day if you are staying in Milan.

You will depart from Milan in your choice of high speed train (approx 2.5 hours one way, train tickets included) or luxury car/minivan with private driver (3+ hours one way, at an additional cost).

At your arrival in Venice you will meet your friendly private guide. Together with your guide you will start the walking tour through the historical center of this amazing city. You will visit the magnificent St. Mark's Basilica, the most important church in the city and a splendid example of Byzantine architecture in the Western world (visit inside, skip the line tickets included). The cathedral was originally built in 828 and then rebuilt in 978 after it was burned during a rebellion. The mosaics covering the ceiling and the upper order of the interior are entirely made of gold, bronze and precious stones, hence the nickname Chiesa D'Oro (Golden Church). The history of this ancient building serves as an overview of the history of Venice.

Near the basilica you will see the Doge's Palace (from the outside) and the iconic Bridge of Sighs before reaching Saint Mark's Square - the most important square in Venice and the only "piazza" (all other squares in Venice are simply called "campi"). There you will see the Torre dell'Orologio (the Clock Tower) completed in 1499, the Procuratie Vecchie (formerly the homes and offices of high officers of the Republic of Venice), the San Marco bell tower, and the many cafes, especially Cafe' Florian, in business since 1720.

A walk through narrow and busy streets will take you to Santa Maria dei Miracoli one of the most beautiful churches in Venice. Built between 1481 and 1489, the building is a perfect example of the Renaissance architecture and one of the most beloved churches by the people of Venice.

Your private tour will continue to the Rialto Bridge, probably the most famous of the hundreds of bridges of Venice. The design made by Antonio da Ponte was chosen among different projects proposed by artists like Palladio, Michelangelo, and Sansovino. From the bridge you can take photos overlooking the Canal Grande, the main waterway of the city. Crossing the bridge you will end the tour at the lively Rialto Market, where locals buy fresh seafood from the Adriatic sea.

During the day you will have time for lunch (price not included) and your guide can recommend some excellent local restaurants. After the tour you will have some time to explore Venice on your own. Finally you will take your train back to Milan (or you will go back with your private car transfer).

If you wish you can add a private gondola ride at the end of the tour. Your guide will drop you off where you will board a gondola for a 30-minute private ride (just you and your party, it will not be shared with others). You will start from Canal Grande, the main waterway of Venice lined with the city's most prestigious palaces. You will then pass through the smaller canals, below the narrow bridges while taking in the beauty of Venice from a unique perspective. You can add the gondola experience from the options menu (in the reservation box, located in the upper right part of this page).

The standard price listed above includes economy class round-trip train tickets from Milan Central station for the number of people you select. From the options menu, you may choose to upgrade to business class train tickets.

If you prefer you could also upgrade to a round-trip transport by Mercedes sedan/minivan driven by a professional private driver. In this case the driver will pick you up at your hotel in Milan and take you back at the end of the walking tour in Venice.

The walking tour in Venice will be of about three hours and will be led by one of the guides of the KissFromItaly team. All our guides have graduate degrees in art history or archaeology and are officially licensed by the Municipality of Venice and, most important, they are friendly and caring persons who will be happy to passionately share with you their knowledge about this amazing city.

This is a private tour so you will be free to decide the starting time and the pace of the visit. If you wish we may customize the itinerary to perfectly match your needs.
