Description:
This private tour of the Venice lagoon islands will make you discover the most beautiful and popular among the many small islands scattered in the lagoon around Venice.
Together with your private guide you will depart from Venice on a vaporetto public boat and reach Murano (please note that if you wish it is also possible to book a private water taxi). This island is world famous for the hand-made glasses. You may go inside one of the workshops to see the red-hot fluid glass become a beautiful vase right in from of your eyes. Then you will see the church of San Donato, one of the many art treasures of Murano.
With a short vaporetto ride you arrive to Burano where the many multi-colored homes are a real photographer paradise. Burano is also famous for fine lacemakings and for Buranei cookies. In Burano you may to stop for lunch in a typical restaurant.
The final stop of this daytrip is the island of Torcello (please note that if you wish to spend more time on the other islands it may be possible to skip it). Sparsely inhabited, this is one of the most atmospheric islands of the lagoon. Here you will visit the church of Santa Maria Assunta founded in the 7th century. Nearby lies the church of Santa Fosca, small and lovely where you can climb on top of the bell tower for a marvellous view. After the visit, the vaporetto will take you back to Venice.
This private excursion can be easily done with the vaporetto (public boat). Please note that the cost of the rides are not included in the price of the tour (about 18 Euro per person). As an alternative, instead of using the public transportation it is possible to do the tour with a private water taxi.
