Italy Inspired S. Valentine's Day Gift Guide

Romance Food & Wine Florence Venice and Veneto

What to give your loved one for S. Valentine's Day

Everyone knows that Italians are in love with love. Romance is a necessity for Italians. It's in the air and in the food. It's in the books and the films. It's expressed in the language and it floats on the music.

To celebrate this lovers’ holiday Italians give each other flowers and chocolates, and plan romantic dinners. We put together an Italy inspired gift guide for you to celebrate S.Valentine's Day at its best!

Baci Perugina

The chocolates Baci Perugina are the classic S.Valentine gift in Italy. Perugina is the name of the renowned chocolate factory where the chocolates were invented, located in Perugia, in Umbria. Baci, which means "kisses" in Italian, are small pralines, wrapped in silver paper, filled with nuts and dark chocolate. The peculiarity is that each praline holds a little love note, so lovers have fun unwrapping the chocolate and try to guess the destiny of their love based on what they find written. Pay attention, because Perugina celebrates this day by making a special edition of the Baci with a shiny red wrapper! Don't miss it!

Vino

Raise a glass of Italian "vino", wine, with your love. It's easy to find a good bottle of Italian wine to share - Italy is home to some of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world, and Italian wines are known worldwide for their broad variety. Tuscany, Veneto and Sicily are some of the regions where the most famous wines in the world are produced. Sip a Chianti or a Nero D'Avola, perhaps promising, as you toast, your Valentine your ethernal love.

Surprise your Valentine with an Italian vacation

There are so many romantic possibilities for travel in Italy. Florence and Venice are traditionally considered to be two of the most romantic places in Italy but Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet celebrates Valentine’s Day with a four-day celebration called "Verona in Love". In the center of Piazza dei Signori a giant red heart is painted on the street and illuminated heart-shaped lanterns are featured throughout the city center. Free concerts with romantic themes take place in the Piazza. Join in the "minute long kiss", or make sure of your own good fortune in love by touching Juliet's statue.

Romantic Italian Print

What’s better than an Italy inspired poster to show your other half how much you love him/her? An artwork is the perfect gift for a couple who’ve just moved into a new home – or the ideal addition to your own love nest. If it’s handmade is even better, which gives it a certain added charm.

Happy Valentine’s day!
