Description:

This private walking tour of Rome is perfect to discover some of the most beautiful attractions in the heart of the Eternal city and is also a great introduction for the first time visitor in Rome.

Your private guide will make you discover the beauty of Baroque Rome and highlight the work of great artists like Caravaggio and Bernini. You will begin this walking tour in Piazza di Spagna, here we will enjoy the famous staircase of Spanish Steps leading to Trinita' dei Monti. At its feet you will see the Barcaccia: the famous boat-shaped fountain designed by Pietro Bernini and the young son Gian Lorenzo. By walking a short distance we will arrive at Trevi Fountain, the Baroque style fountain where, as the legend says, you can toss the coin to ensure that you will one day return to Rome!

After, we will enter the beautiful Baroque church Saint Ignazio and experience an optical illusion frescoed on the ceiling by Andrea Pozzo, a master of perspective. Next we will delve into a wonderful piece of Ancient Rome by visiting the Pantheon, the best conserved of the Ancient temples in Rome, then transformed in a Baroque church. Here you will be astonished by its architectural technique secrets, by the big open hole in the ceiling and you will see the important funeral monuments of the Italian Kings and of the painter Raphael.

Not far from the Pantheon is San Luigi dei Francesi church, with the unique Chapel of Saint Matthew decorated by the genius of Caravaggio (please note this is closed on Thursday afternoons). Our tour will end in Piazza Navona, one of the most beautiful squares of Rome where in the center stands the huge Four Rivers Fountain, the Baroque masterpiece designed by the artist Bernini.

The tour will be led by one of the guides of the KissFromItaly team. All our guides have graduate degrees in history or archaeology and are officially licensed by the Municipality of Rome and, most important, they are friendly and caring persons who will be happy to passionately share with you their knowledge about this amazing city.

For your convenience you may choose a private transfer from your hotel to the starting point of the tour. To add this service just open the options menu in the reservation box and check the appropriate mark. Please note that this service may not be available if your hotel is not located in the city center.

What a surprise! My husband wanted to take a walking tour in our first day in Rome. I wasn't sure at the beginning, but now I'm very glad we did it! Rome is amazing! We had a lovely walk in the city center with this very friendly guide who made us discover the best gelatto in town! I already recommended this tour to our friends who will be in Italy next summer
