Description:

This private walking tour of Rome in one day will allow you to see many of the most famous attractions of the Eternal City (please note that if you wish is possible to add private transportation, see below for more details).

The day will start with the visit to the Colosseum to learn about the history and significance of this massive stadium built in 80 AD under Emperor Titus. We will go inside to see where the ancient Romans held the gladiators' fights and entry will be quick as we will use skip the line tickets at the entrance.

A walk along the Imperial Fora will give us an idea of the most important archaeological area of the city before climbing up to the Capitoline Hill. We pass by one of the best spots for photo opportunities on the Roman Forum and then reach the Renaissance Capitoline Square designed by Michelangelo. We will continue our walk passing by the archaeological site at Torre Argentina before arriving at the Pantheon. This magnificent building is an ancient Roman temple completed in 126 AD under Emperor Hadrian. It has been in continuous use throghout history and became church in the 7th Century. After two thousand years its coffered dome is still world's largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world.

Few steps away we will enter Piazza Navona, one of the most beautiful squares of Rome, built upon the ancient Stadium of Domitian. Many of the buildings, churches, fountains that adhorn the square are remarkable examples of the Baroque style, with the highlight of the Four Rivers Fountain designed by Bernini in 1651. There will be time for a short lunch break in a typical restaurant before taking a taxi that will take us to the Vatican (please note the cost of the taxi is not included and will be paid on the spot).

Entering the Vatican Museums will be easy as we make reservations to skip the line. We will go through the huge collection of art focussing on very few important masterpieces in order to have enough time to admire the Sistine Chapel, frescoed by Michelangelo, Botticelli, Perugino, Ghirlandaio. Through a direct passage we will enter inside Saint Peter's Basilica, the world's greatest Catholic church. After the visit of the basilica we will exit to Saint Peter's Square where the tour will end.

The tour will be led by one of the guides of the KissFromItaly team. All our guides have graduate degrees in history or archaeology and are officially licensed by the Municipality of Rome and, most important, they are friendly and caring persons who will be happy to passionately share with you their knowledge about this amazing city.

TRANSPORTATION: The itinerary described here will be done walking (with the exception of one taxi ride to reach the Vatican, cost of about 15 Euro not included). If you wish it is possible to do the tour with a private car/minivan pick-up at your hotel that will take you around Rome throughout the day. In this case you will have the chance to see additional sites like the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. To add the private transportation, open the options menu inside the booking box at the top right of this page.

Hello Cory, Our visit to Rome was magnificent! Marita, our tour guide was outstanding. My wife and I learned a lot from her knowledge. The best thing we liked about Marita was how she cared to tell us about each and every detail of all the landmarks that we visited. I am already recommending to my friends how well your company works, with good professionals and personnel. There's no doubt I will contact you again when we'll visit Rome again. Thank you for your kind attention. Best wishes to you all.
