This tour is available as a walking itinerary through Rome’s historic center or with a private driver for maximum comfort, convenience, and the chance to see additional sites. Whichever option you choose, your licensed guide from the KissFromItaly team will make the day engaging, informative, and completely hassle-free.
Itinerary – Rome in One Day
Your private guide will meet you at your centrally located hotel or at a designated meeting point. If you choose the private driver option, pickup is available directly at your hotel anywhere within the city of Rome.
Colosseum
Your day begins at the Colosseum, the most iconic symbol of ancient Rome. We start by admiring it from the outside, where your private guide will explain its history, architectural significance, and the spectacular events that once took place inside this massive amphitheater built under Emperor Titus in 80 AD.
If you prefer, you may choose the optional interior visit during the booking process. Please note that entering the Colosseum requires substantially more time, as some waiting to access the monument is unavoidable—even with priority reservations (see below for more details).
Imperial Fora & Capitoline Hill
Walk along the Imperial Fora, one of Rome’s most important archaeological areas, before climbing Capitoline Hill. From here, enjoy one of the best panoramic views over the Roman Forum and admire Michelangelo’s Renaissance piazza.
Trevi Fountain
Stroll through Rome’s characteristic streets to reach the world-famous Trevi Fountain. Here you’ll have time to take photos and, of course, toss a coin to ensure your return to Rome. Your guide will explain the fountain’s Baroque symbolism and its place in Roman tradition.
Spanish Steps
From Trevi Fountain continue and reach the nearby Spanish Steps. Fill your water bottles at the iconic Barcaccia Fountain and admire the impressive stairs leading to the beautiful Renaissance church of Trinita’ dei Monti.
Pantheon & Piazza Navona
Make your way toward Via Condotti, Rome’s elegant shopping street and continue to the Pantheon, the ancient temple completed under Emperor Hadrian. Its enormous dome, still the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world, remains one of Rome’s greatest marvels.
Lunch Break
Enjoy time for lunch at a local restaurant—your guide will suggest excellent Roman trattorias.
Transfer to the Vatican City
A short taxi ride (approx. €15, not included) brings you to the Vatican City, or you may get there with your private driver.
Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel & St. Peter’s Basilica
Enter the Vatican Museums with reserved skip-the-line access. Your guide will lead you through selected masterpieces to ensure an enriching yet efficient visit. Enter the breathtaking Sistine Chapel, where you’ll admire Michelangelo’s Creation frescoes and learn about the conclave, the pope’s election process, that takes place exactly there. Then walk through the reserved passage to St. Peter’s Basilica, the most important church in Catholicism.
The tour ends in St. Peter’s Square. If you choose the private driver, your vehicle will be waiting to take you back to your hotel.
Walking Tour or Private Driver
Walking Tour Version
- Follows the full historic-center itinerary on foot
- Requires one short taxi ride to the Vatican (price not included, paid on the spot)
- Ideal for visitors who enjoy walking and want to experience the atmosphere of Rome’s streets
- Excellent for centrally-located hotels
Private Driver Version
- Private driver at your disposal throughout the entire day
- Includes hotel pickup/dropoff anywhere in Rome
- Allows you to see more, such as Castel Sant’Angelo and additional viewpoints
- Ensures a more relaxed and efficient experience
- Provides extra comfort, especially during hot summer months or for guests with mobility concerns
Visiting the Inside of the Colosseum
The Colosseum is extraordinary—but also one of the busiest attractions in Italy, with strict security checks that often cause delays even with priority reservations. It can get extremely crowded and waiting in line under the sun can be uncomfortable.
For this reason, we encourage visitors—especially families with young children—to carefully evaluate whether going inside is the best choice for your day. The interior visit can be fascinating, but it slows the overall pace of the tour and may reduce time available at other highlights.
The exterior-only version is smooth, time-efficient, and still offers a complete, engaging understanding of the monument through your guide’s explanations. Many guests find this the ideal balance of comfort and content, especially on a full-day tour.
