Description:

With this private tour you will discover the Borghese Gallery, one of the most beautiful museums in Rome and perhaps in the world.

It was built in the 17th Century by Cardinal Scipione Borghese as a suburban villa surrounded by vast and beautiful parks that are today the Villa Borghese Gardens. Cardinal Borghese was a collector of art and great admirer of Bernini and Caravaggio and thanks to his fondness today the museum hosts some of the most beautiful masterpieces of these two great artists.

An art historian from our team will take you though the collections of the Borghese Gallery to admire the neoclassical sculptures of Canova (Paolina Borghese, a.k.a. Venus Victrix), the Baroque works of Bernini (Apollo and Daphne, Rate of Proserpine, David), the paintings of Caravaggio (Boy with a Basket of Fruit, David with the Head of Goliath, Saint Jerome), Raphael (Young Woman with Unicorn, the Deposition), Titian (Sacred and Profane Love), Antonello da Messina, Giovanni Bellini and many others artists of the Renaissance and Mannerism periods. For the beauty of the art works and the grace of the palace, this museum is really a must-see for all lovers of the arts.

After the visit to gallery, your guide will take you through the magnificent park of Villa Borghese to reach the Pincio Hill, where a terrace offers a superb view over Rome and a great spot for taking beautiful pictures.

The tour will be led by one of the guides of the KissFromItaly team. All our guides have graduate degrees in history or archaeology and are officially licensed by the Municipality of Rome and, most important, they are friendly and caring persons who will be happy to passionately share with you their knowledge about this amazing city.

I took the Borghese Gallery tour with Kissfromitaly and enjoyed it very much. Our guide was informative and entertaining at the same time. She gave us the bigger context for every painting and little interesting details as well. The Gallery was surprisingly beautiful and even richer than I expected. Thank you Kissfromitaly for this excellent experience!
