This private daytrip from Rome will make you discover the Amalfi Coast, the beautiful coastline located South of Naples, world famous for the romantic scenery, the rich history, the charming towns and the excellent food.

A private driver will pick you up at your hotel in Rome with a luxury sedan or minivan and in 2.5-3 hours you will reach the Costiera Amalfitana as it is known in Italian. The itinerary will go along the scenic road of the Amalfi Coast and arrive to the town of Amalfi. What is nowadays a charming village has a glorious past when it was one of the four Maritime Republics (together with Venice, Pisa and Genoa) between the 8th and 13th Century. It became a very popular tourist destinations since the 1920s when the British aristocracy started to enjoy the beauty of its sea. A walk starting from the port full of colored fishing boats will take you through the center to the beautiful cathedral of Sant’Andrea. The church, overlooking the lively Piazza Duomo, was built in the 12th Century and has a beautiful cloister where you can see the influence of the Arab culture on this part of Southern Italy. In Amalfi you will have time for lunch in a typical restaurant to enjoy the delicious local food.

We will pass by the towns of Praiano and Conca dei Marini before reaching Positano, a lovely and trendy town placed in a beautiful panoramic position overlooking the sea. The old center surrounds the church of Santa Maria Assunta with the dome made of the typical colorful ceramic tiles. Little alleys, with bars and shops selling typical products, lead down to the beach where you can sit down to have gelato or limoncello. The tour will continue along this romantic coastline where you can stop to take beautiful photos that will likely make all your friends at home very jealous.

If time allows we will reach Ravello, sitting on an elevated position of 315 meters above sea level. Ravello is famous for the breathtaking views over the sea and for the many noteworthy personalities that visited and loved the place, like Richard Wagner that in Ravello took inspiration to write the Parsifal. Please note that the stop in Ravello is subject to how much time you will spend in Amalfi and Positano. With the eyes full marvellous images of art and sea we will be heading back to your hotel in Rome.

We generally do this tour with a private driver and you will visit each town on your own (as the driver cannot leave the vehicle unattended): the towns are small and easy to walk around. If you wish we can also offer a private guide who will show you around each place and make sure you will not miss-out anything worth visiting. You can add the private guide from the options menu (located in the reservation box in the upper right side of this page).

I booked online the Amalfi coast tour from Rome. It was fairly easy. I then received a confirmation and some days later the voucher. On the day of the tour the driver was on time at our hotel. We arrived in Positano and had time to visit the town. It was a very fine day and the place is very nice. We went to Amalfi where we had a great lunch. Finally we had a quick stop in Ravello to see the view. All went well. I appreciated the driver stopped every time we asked. He was very good.

Dear Cori, Words cannot express all the happiness I and my sister had on the last few days we spent in Italy. We are grateful for all you have done in order to make our experience in the trip to the Amalfi Coast something to remember forever. And the trip we made on last Monday was a terrific experience too. We visited so many beautiful places that it is difficult to pick one of them as a favourite. The kindness, proficiency and generosity of Big Lucca are outstanding and we owe him a lot for all the good moments we had in the trips. Thanks for everything! Surely I will be in contact to costumize our next trip to the south of Italy and to the other cities suggested by Big Lucca. Arrivederci!!
