Itinerary – Florence’s Highlights in One Day

Your day begins with a warm welcome from your expert licensed guide at a central meeting point or directly at your hotel (if centrally located). Together, you’ll explore the heart of Florence at a relaxed, personalized pace.

Stop 1: The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo)

Marvel at Florence’s iconic Duomo, an architectural masterpiece crowned by Brunelleschi’s magnificent dome. Learn about the incredible engineering that made it possible, and take in the splendor of Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistery’s bronze doors — the “Gates of Paradise.”

Stop 2: Piazza della Signoria

Step into Florence’s open-air museum at Piazza della Signoria, surrounded by grand sculptures and Renaissance palaces. Admire Palazzo Vecchio, the seat of Florence’s government since ancient times, and see a stunning replica of Michelangelo’s David standing proudly where the original once stood.

Stop 3: Loggia del Porcellino & Via Calzaiuoli

Stroll through Via Calzaiuoli, one of Florence’s most vibrant shopping streets connecting the Duomo with Piazza della Signoria. Along the way, you’ll stop by the famous Loggia del Porcellino, where locals and travelers alike rub the nose of the bronze wild boar statue for good luck — a fun Florentine tradition! Your guide will point out artisan boutiques, gelato shops, and other hidden gems as you walk.

Stop 4: Uffizi or Accademia Gallery (Optional)

Enhance your tour with a visit to Florence’s world-renowned art museums. These museums are optional and can be added including skip the line tickets.

  • Accademia Gallery: See Michelangelo’s David, one of the most iconic sculptures in the world.
  • Uffizi Gallery: Explore masterpieces by Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, and Michelangelo.

Stop 5: Traditional Tuscan Lunch

Midday, take a well-deserved break to enjoy an authentic Tuscan lunch at a local trattoria recommended by your guide. Savor classic dishes such as fresh pasta, Florentine steak, ribollita, or bruschetta with local Chianti wine, while soaking up the city’s relaxed atmosphere. It’s the perfect time to taste real Florentine cuisine and recharge before continuing your discovery.

Stop 6: Ponte Vecchio

Arrive at Florence’s oldest and most picturesque bridge, the Ponte Vecchio, lined with glittering jewelry shops and centuries of history. From here, enjoy breathtaking views of the Arno River and learn how the bridge survived World War II thanks to an unexpected twist in Florence’s story.

Stop 7: Santa Croce & Local Life

End your tour in the vibrant Santa Croce district, home to charming artisan shops, cafés, and the final resting place of greats like Michelangelo, Galileo, and Machiavelli. Your guide will gladly recommend local trattorias for lunch or shopping tips to make the most of your remaining time in Florence.

Our tour of Florence was WONDERFUL. The guide was so knowledgeable and could answer any questions we had. We got to see many wonderful sites but didn't feel like we were being rushed from one location to another. The restaurant our guide took us to for lunch was perfect (quaint, - not too crowded or noisy) and the food was excellent. We learned so much about the history of Florence and its buildings and cathedrals. When the tour was complete, our guide helped us with directions to other places we wanted to visit. Thanks again!
