This Florence in one day tour is the perfect choice for the visitor who wants to visit the must-see sites of Florence in short time.

An art historian from our team will take you through the historical center of this marvellous city known as the cradle of the Renaissance.

The itinerary will begin at the Accademia Gallery to see the David by Michelangelo, probably the most famous sculpture in the world. Entering will be easy as we make advance reservations to skip the long line at the entrance. A walk through narrow ancient streets will lead us the church of San Lorenzo, originally designed by Brunelleschi, with its fascinating unfinished facade. We will then stroll in the nearby covered market of San Lorenzo where many Florentines still come to do their daily shopping.

Few steps away lies Florence's cathedral, the basilica of Saint Mary of the Flower, also known as the Duomo. Just outside you will see the San Giovanni Baptistery and learn about the history of this octagonal building, one of the oldest of Florence. Right in front of it stands the campanile (bell tower) by Giotto, a slender structure that is a great example of Florentine Gothic architecture.

Going along Via Calzaiouli we will pass by Orsanmichele, the ancient granary of the city and reach Piazza Signoria, one of the most important squares of Florence. The square is dominated by the Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace) the town hall started in 1299 by Arnolfo di Cambio. The piazza is enriched by the Loggia dei Lanzi, with its many statues and by the fountain of the Neptune. The walk will continue through the courtyard of the Uffizi and heading towards the Arno river we will arrive to Ponte Vecchio, the Old Bridge. Because of its beauty and history this is the only bridge that was not destroyed by the Nazis during the World War II and stands today as one of the symbols of Florence.

Now there will be the time to enjoy a short lunch break in a typical local restaurant. After lunch we will continue our tour in one of the most characteristic areas of Florence, Santa Croce, to visit the neighborhood where Dante, the author of the Divine Comedy, was born and lived part of his life. Going through a maze of streets where many artisans still have their shops, we will reach the basilica of Santa Croce. Inside this magnificent church you will see the tombs of great men of the past like Michelangelo and Galileo.

As with all our private tours, the itinerary can be customized based on your preferences.

The tour will be led by one of the guides of the KissFromItaly team. All our guides have graduate degrees in history or archaeology and are officially licensed by the Municipality of Florence and, most important, they are friendly and caring persons who will be happy to passionately share with you their knowledge about this amazing city.

Dear Cori, I had intended to write you to let you know how much we enjoyed every second we had with Brenda. She was marvelous!!! She brought the city of Florence to life for us!! All of its history, beauty and incredible artists that she taught us about was so very interesting. All of us left Florence with great satisfaction and excitement in wanting to return in the near future. I'm amazed at all that we were able to cover, I almost felt that we had our own private viewing of The David. Just us and Brenda telling us every tiny detail that made us understand what, why and how Michelangelo could create something so beautiful. Florence was lively but not so crowded that we couldn't spread out and really take good long looks at the art, sculptures and the city sites. It was a perfect day with a tour guide that showed her passion for your beautiful city. Brenda is so smart and tells the stories so well that she captured everyone's attention in everything she said. In fact when my husband and I went to Rome this week, we remembered so many things she told us as we viewed the Pantheon and Raphael's tomb and works, St. Peter's with Michelangelo's Pieta, the Coliseum where marble stones were extracted for carving. She stayed with us in everywhere we went. She's truly gifted and has such a delightful personality. We all wanted to "take her home with us". Please give her our regards and thank her again for us. Thank you Cori for helping us organize our day in Florence. You too were a big part in the success! Your instructions were perfect and easy to follow. We will use your services again in the future. Best regards, Carol
