This daytrip from Rome will start with a private car/minivan picking you up at your hotel in Rome.
In about 2.5 hours you will reach the lovely hilltop town of Montalcino where you will have the chance to taste the world-famous Brunello di Montalcino. This superb red wine is made entirely by San Giovese grapes, and is produced in the countryside around Montalcino since the 14th century! You will have time for a stroll in the Medieval center of the town before heading to the next stop.
In about half an hour you will arrive in Pienza, the town designed in the 15th century by the pope Pius II. Here the famous architect Rossellino designed and created the perfect town based on the ideal of the Renaissance . The Cathedral, the Piccolomini Palace and the Borgia Palace are the three building composing the main trapezoidal square. This is also the right place to have lunch with the delicious typical home made pasta with wild boar sauce.
Driving in a post-card landscape of gentle curves and idillyc landscapes you will reach Montepulciano, the walled hill-town famous for its beautiful Reinassance squares, buildings and churches. Montepulciano is also famous for the Nobile wine, an excellent red that is the great antagonist of the Brunello from Montalcino. It is hard to resist the temptation to taste which one is the best!
At the end of the day your private driver will take you back to your hotel in Rome. This daytrip can also be done as a transfer ending in Florence. If you wish to end-up with a drop-off at your hotel in Florence, please make the selection in the options menu (inside the booking box, in the upper right side of this page).
