Why should you do a Ferrari test drive?

Because it’s a lot of fun! Stepping in and sitting at the wheel drive of such an amazing car is already great in itself, but the real fun begins when you start driving. You can immediately feel the power of the engine and it’s very impressive to see how quickly you can gain speed. And the photos of you in a red Ferrari really look good on Instagram.

How much does a Ferrari test drive cost ?

It very much depends on the duration and car model. A short duration of 10-15 minutes can go from around 150-200 Euro with a less expensive model like a Ferrari Portofino up to a 4-500 Euro with a F488. A long duration of two hours can cost between 1,000 Euro with the California and up to more than 2,000 Euro with the F488.

Is it worth the money ?

Short answer: yes! It is the kind of thing that will probably remain in your memory for a lifetime. But of course it also depends on how much you like cars and if you are doing it with the right company.

Where can you do a Ferrari test drive in Italy?

The best place is probably in Maranello, province of Modena (near Bologna). This is the town where the Ferrari legend was born and where the Ferrari factory and main museum are located. By doing the test drive in Maranello you will be able to combine the test drive with a visit to the Ferrari museum. In addition to the Ferrari museum, at a short distance you can also visit the Lamborghini museum (more info on how you can organize this experience). Maranello can be easily reached from Florence, Milan, Venice or other cities.

What duration should I choose for the Ferrari test drive ?

The duration mainly depends on how much you love sport cars and on your budget. Generally a 20-30 minutes test drive it’s not too expensive and it will allow you to have a good feeling of what it’s like to drive a Ferrari. With this duration you should be able to go on roads where you don’t have much traffic and where you can speed up. If you can afford it, a test drive of one or even better two hours will give you a chance of going out of the urban areas and enjoy a much more complete experience. And no, even two hours it will not feel like a long time, it’s so exciting that time literally flies as fast as the car.

Do Ferraris have rear seats ?

Generally Ferraris, like most sport cars are two seaters but a few models also have rear seats (like Portofino or GTC4 Lusso). Bear in mind that even when they do, back seats have limited space and they will not be comfortable for tall/heavy people.

Can you do the test drive as a passenger ?

Generally yes, you can have a person from the staff of the rental company as the driver. If you want to be the driver and bring along a friend of family member then you need to make sure to choose a model with back seats since a person of the staff will always come with you as a passenger

Is it better to drive a Ferrari or a Lamborghini ?

This is a tough one. It really depends on personal preferences. Both brands make state of the art sport cars, so either way you cannot be wrong. Personally I prefer a Ferrari, but the best thing to do is to try both and decide for yourself. For more information on Lamborghini test drives see here.

Can you do have a video recording of the test drive ?

Yes, most companies offer this option, but better to ask in advance.

How old do you need to be to do a Ferrari test drive ?

To do a test drive on the road you need to be at least 21 and have a driver’s license for at least two years. If you are driving on a race track 18 year old is enough (more information on race track test drives here).

Do you need an international driver’s license to do a Ferrari test drive in Italy ?

Yes, you should have it if you are driving on roads, although most rental companies will let you do the test drive without the international driving permit (as long as you have the license from your country of origin and the license is written in latin characters). If you are driving on a race track it’s not needed (more information on race track test drives here).

Can you do a Ferrari test drive and visit the Ferrari museum?

Yes you can and you should. Knowing more about the history of Ferrari, seeing the cars that made the history of Formula 1 actually makes the test drive even more exciting and rewarding.
